A Missed Report

I am terribly sorry Silvertree. This past week I completely forgot about Tribe Reports. I was writing with two members of Nightwing, Christian Miles and Jacob Parker (Dwarf). I think it was their evil plot to distract me ;) lol JK

Anyhow, I haven't been on the forum in a while OR this blog OR email it seems. That is because Scott Appleton, owner of Flaming Pen Press, has invited me to submit my new novella idea and I've been writing at it furiously. Please forgive me...and continue sending in points. I will send them all next week ;)

Announcements:

T-Shirts: I emailed Wayne and Christopher over the week about points for T-shirts. They said that buying a shirt is worth 500 points, possibly more, and EVERY day you wear it in public is worth an additional 100 points!

Bookmarks: I emailed Wayne this idea a LONG time ago. And they are waiting for me to have a price range before giving me a quote. What do you guys think? Make bookmarks with the cover and information about COTSK on them and then leave them/hand them out at libraries and schools? Would anyone be willing to make them?

Creation of AOC Materials: Obviously for all of these Amazing Open Category (AOC) ideas we will need designers. For the shirts I would like simply "Endurance and Victory" on the front (maybe a small spider) and the website/author's names on the back. Would someone like to do this? Or shall I?

Anyone up for the bookmarks?

As always, email me at ServantoftheOne@gmail.com for anything you need!

Amazing Open Category - TShirts

I had a brilliant idea the other day.

What if we made T-Shirts for the amazing open category and just to be awesomely cool?

They could read anything from "Heed the Prophecies" to straightway "Silvertree" and we could put the website on the back or something. I have a feeling that WTB would offer huge points for all who buy a shirt and I think it'd be really cool too.

The only problem is...I stink at designing fashion...and especially on the online things.

If someone would like to help out with this that would be AWESOME. I think it's a cool idea :)

What say you?

Further on! Endurance and Victory!

We now know that we are leading the tribes in points, but who knows how long that will last. We need to ensure our eventual victory! I issue yet another challenge, this one for ideas! Does anyone have any ideas for point-making? In the tribe orientation document, there is an option for coming up with ideas for earning points, rewarded accordingly for creativity. I have an idea myself, does anyone else?

Millardthemk of silvertree claims the 5k points in this tribe

I have received mine spoils :D But no spoiling it for others tisk tisk.

Step up to the challenge, and Rise!

SilverTree has hung back long enough. Now we move to victory! We are in the finishing stretch, I lay down the challenge, throw down the gauntlet, issue the remark to you, race to 85k points. Millard, Keeneye and Wintersread have grown lazy on their riches, it is us! The middle and the bottom class that will rise to the finish! Rise with us! Write reviews, contact those lazy few if you have questions! Beat them to 85k! Can we do it in a day? NO Can we do it in a week? NO!
BUT CAN WE ALL RISE TOGETHER AND DO IT IN A MONTH?
YESSS

Long live silvertree!

And Long Live the Middle Pointers!(soon to be basking in their new-found points:D)

Goals, Challenges, New Member, New Highscore

Silvertree! I am so proud of all of you on account of last week! I threw down a challenge of 10K and many of you matched it! If you didn't you got an easy 5K which is very amazing and my buddy Millardthemk made up for it.

On his own Millard earned nearly 40,000 Vanadils!!!!!!

This is a HUGE achievement :) That many points in one week deserves great praise. So because of it, I took a break and let him pass me up in the rankings ;)

That's right. Keeneye Straightarrow no longer leads Silvertree in points. We have a new powerhouse. And his name is Millard. ::applause::

And what did he do to get that many points? Very simple--wrote reviews. It's not too hard. Just review each book on ten different sites and, assuming you've read TDW, TWLC, COTSK, and the Pirate Books, that's an easy 30,000! Millard also did a few videos and stuff that gave him an extra boost.

On that note I'm proud of you guys :) Most all of you have done videos and that's just great :) Keep it up. Those are quick and easy points.

On a different note we have a new member of sorts. She's already flown up the charts, as has Yanks ::cheers::. Her name is Brenna! she's a good friend of mine so welcome her nicely :)

Finally this is what I really wanted to post about. Millardthemk and Winter's Read, the top two scorers of this tribe, have issued a challenge to you all that they want me to repeat. I think they'll be posting it in their own words but here is the gist of it.

Every week for the month of January try and get 20,000 Vanadils. Every week.

There are three weeks left this month for tribe reports. So your total for the month should end up being 60,000. That's what the top three have right now! You coulud get it in three weeks!

Reaching this goal is difficult, but not impossible. It will be harder for the people higher up in points, to them I say set a goal of maybe 10K a week. For those with lesser points here are some easy tips;

  • Write reviews
  • Write blog posts
  • Post links on your blog
  • Post the purchasing links
  • Make videos
  • Go to a store that carries the books and get a photo with an employee (WTB/CH and I will be the only ones seeing the picture if you would like. Or only WTB/CH oif you really want it that way)
  • Twitter/FB about COTSK
  • DO YOUR HOMEWORK
  • But a banner ad on your blog (see the COTSK one on mine)
  • Amazon Listmania
  • FB Fan Pages
  • Make posters
Those are some easy ways. Ones that are mainly free and easy. Remember our focus for the month is internet. So if you think that list is too much, focus on the internet ones. Should you do all of those things you should be fine :) Even if you do most of them :)

And remember. The top seven scorers get an extra prize from the authors. If you want to choose the name of a character in their next book, or have it named after you. Try and make it to that top 7. It's not that hard ;)

Endurance and Victory to all of you! Cling to the tree that is silver!

Edited Video Info

Mr. Batson recently posted more information regarding videos on the Tribe Contest 1st Score Ranking thread. It's a little different from what Keeneye said, so I'm posting it here just to make sure that everyone sees the new info.

Mr. Batson said:
About the Video component: I recently received an email about the total number of points that could be earned by creating a video to promote and of CH and My books, including Spider King. In my response, I may have misled, b/c I've been seeing tribe members quoting all kinds of GIGANTIC points! Here's the real deal about videos:

A. A video about one book by one person = 2000 points.

B. If one person did a separate video for each of our books, that would 2000 X 8 books = 16000 points total.

C. In order for a video to count, you must post it on at least TWO very visible sites: YouTube, Tangle, Facebook, that kind of thing. But it's NOT, I repeat, NOT 2000 per video, per person, per site posted!!!! Example: Biff makes a Spider King video (2,000 points), but he posts the video in ten places. He does NOT earn 20,000 points!! But rather, he earns, 2000 points. The most any ONE person could earn for his Tribe with videos is 16,000 vanadils.

D. In addition, videos must achieve a level of quality that represents the book in a favorable light. If the video is cheesey, people will likely think the book is cheesey.

E. Extra points will be awarded for higher quality videos; points may be deducted for lame videos.

I hope that clears things up.

Videos and More Info!

I emailed Mr. Batson recently and asked if we were able to post videos on more than one site.

He said we could post them on TEN.

What's this mean? If you have made a video for one of their books, or for the tribe, post it EVERYWHERE. Facebook counts, says WTB, as well as any other video placing website. 2,000 points for each posting :) That's a ton of points. So DO IT

Also, here is my tribe video :) Enjoy!

New Year, New Member, New Theme

Happy new year, tribe of the tree!

2009 wasn't too bad for me and I hope 2010 is 10 times (pun intended) as good as the last.

Today we are to welcome a new member into our tribe yanksrule23!!!!!! It's always awesome to have new members, so welcome him in and show him around ::laughs::

Multimedia December is still in the works for myself (I plan to do a few videos/posters next this week) but with the start of the new week and month I have called in a new plan of action.

Internet Invasion January.

That's right, for the month of January I want you all to do EVERYTHING on the list that involves internet. That means writing reviews, creating blogs, posting on blogs, posting purchasing links, normal links, Amazon Listmania Links, fan pages, finish the ARG, and of course videos and the like.

Hopefully you all understand what it means to write a review but if not, stay tuned for an explanation.

  1. Writing Reviews - A book review, or any review for that matter, states what the story is about, its postive/negative elements, and what the reader thought of the reivew. For my review of Curse of the Spider King please click here and you can get some ideas on how to write one. That review was number one on amazon until someone voted it down <_< Once you have written your review you should post it on all of the following sites: Amazon.com, BooksAMillion.com, Buy.com, Pronto.com, Borders.com, BarnesandNoble.com, GoodReads.com, Shelfari.com, Powells.com, and Biblio.com. If you happen to need any more sites please email me as I do have a couple more. Each review is worth 500 points, so posting a review on all ten sites will give you 5,000.
  2. Creating a blog - Because you all are writers on this blog you have been given a blogger account. With said account you have the ability to create your own blog, for yourself, a friend, or a topic you and a few would like to write about. You can even make one just to post your stories on. If you are allowed PLEASE do this. On a blog you can make purchasing links (I will be explaining how to do this shortly, please ask if you want to know) and post them giving yourself 8,000 points. You also can post more links and blog on topics to earn a few thousand more. This is a great way to connect with more fans/writers as well as win a TON of points.
  3. Amazon Listmania - Each list is worth 200 points and you are allowed to make 10 of them. For a total of 2,000 points. They are very easy to make and are worth it in the long run. Go to your Amazon page and scroll down. Somewhere it should say "Listmania" make a new one and include one or all of CH/WTB's books. That's how you get the points. Email me the links and you'll get credit.
  4. If you are on Facebook you can make fan pages for any or all of WTB/CH's books. Each fan page is worth 200 points. There are 10 books (If you count VAS and AD) so that's 2,000 Points.
  5. Alternate Reality Game - Only one person per tribe may recieve credit for completing the ARG. Millard and I will be of the first six to complete it. So do it for fun, but we are the ones who get credit, the first one. Pst, I'll beat you Millard ;) lol jk jk
  6. Videos - See last post. Each one is worth 2,000 Points.
So that's that. Also watch WTB's blog for time sensitive challenges that are worth HUGE amounts of points.

Thanks to Millard for updating tribe points when I was busy. ::claps his hands::

Also, a challenge for the month.

I want each of you to score 5,000-10,000 points EVERY week. This isn't as hard as it sounds. Figure writing a review for ONE of the books and posting it on ten sites gives you 5,000. That's already the goal. And if you happened to do a few videos and a couple reviews you're already over 10,000. It's an easy challenge, but it would help out a LOT.

So, who's in?

And welcome to yanks!
